Mother’s Day in Central London

March 17, 2022

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and as with all seasonal occasions, London is playing host to a wealth of fun days out, events and activities to help you celebrate the day with your loved ones. Whether you want to treat your mum to some special food, a day of relaxation or a unique experience you’ll find something perfect to do in London.

Museum Trips

London’s museums are world famous for both their range of unique pop-up and permanent exhibitions which make a perfect day out on Mother’s Day. Whether you’re after a bit of history at the Natural History Museum, contemporary works at the Victoria & Albert museum or some instagrammable artwork, there are a huge selection of great exhibitions over Mother’s Day weekend. Currently on at the V&A is the Beatrix Potter exhibition which has a beautiful selection of drawings and prints that inspired some of your favourite children’s characters – the ideal place for a Mother’s Day to remind her of your childhood. For something more modern, Amy: Beyond the Stage is currently on at the Design Museum, celebrating the talent and fashion of the late Amy Winehouse, which makes a fun family day out.

River Cruise

The best way to see the sights of London is from the Thames, so the perfect place to spend the day with your mother is on a beautiful river cruise including lunch and bubbles, which will allow you to catch up, enjoy great food and drink, and see London’s most famous sights right outside your window. City Cruises are running a special Mother’s Day cruise, where you can spend two hours gently sailing along the river, with a two-course lunch, sparkling wine and live music. Drifting past the House of Parliament, the London Eye, Tower Bridge and more, this an unforgettable Mother’s Day experience.
